National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been investigating US national Matthew VanDyke and six Ukrainian nationals, who were arrested in March in connection with allegations involving illegal cross-border movement and the training of Myanmar-based ethnic armed groups in drone warfare. The NIA has alleged that the group used India as a transit route to Myanmar and has also examined alleged links to a drone attack on a civilian aircraft in Myanmar.Recent reporting says investigators are examining the group’s movements, alleged drone-training activities and possible links with insurgent organisations. VanDyke and another accused were also allowed to be questioned by the NIA in September. At the same time, a new FATF-OECD report has highlighted the growing sophistication of underground banking and hawala networks. The report cites an Oman case involving an alleged unlicensed cross-border money-transfer operation to Pakistan, where investigators found the use of WhatsApp and electronic wallets. The report warns that traditional hawala networks are increasingly adopting digital tools, including messaging platforms, fintech services, mobile wallets and virtual assets. n18oc_raw-reportn18oc_indiaNews18 Mobile App – https://onelink.to/desc-youtube
