Chandigarh: A socio-political group, Lok Adhikar Lehar, has launched a campaign in Mohali to educate and organise voters for the forthcoming Assembly elections in 2022. Prof Ranjeet Singh Ghuman, former head, Department of Economics, Punjabi University, Patiala, said since 1992, Punjab’s growth rate had always remained below the national average and many other states of India. At present, Punjab was at the 17th position in terms of growth rate. tns
‘Saroop’ damaged during Op Bluestar to be made public
Amritsar: Thirty-seven years after Operation Bluestar, the SGPC has decided to put on display the bullet-riddled ‘saroop’ of Guru Granth Sahib and the gold-plated sheets of the Golden Temple that were damaged during the Army attack in June 1984. Besides, the original ‘khu’ (well), known as ‘Akalsar’, associated with the era of Guru Hargobind Singh, would also be made open for public view. The well also bore the brunt of the attack on its outer surface. tns
