Barnala, October 2
Deputy Chief Minister OP Soni announced a revision in the pay scale of superspecialist doctors soon and said the Punjab Government would fill the vacant posts.
He made these announcements at Handiaya in Barnala district where he came on Saturday to lay the foundation stone of a 300-bed government superspeciality hospital.
Speaking after the ceremony, flanked by senior Congress leader Kewal Singh Dhillon, Soni said the hospital would prove to be a boon for the people of the area, who would get the best of health facilities near their homes.
In the beginning, Rs 40 crore has been approved for the project and for the further work, consequent funds would also be allocated. “Currently, the government is providing 235 kinds of medicines free of cost at all government hospitals. We are committed to provide the best infrastructure and manpower to the health sector,” he said.
He also said instructions had been passed to purchase medicines that were not available in government hospitals but were required by patients. — TNS
