Woman posing as judge held

The police arrested a woman for allegedly duping people by posing as a judicial magistrate-first class in Bathinda. The suspect has been identified as Jasvir Kaur of Kalyan Sukha village.

The impostor, known as “judge Jasvir”, had put up a nameplate of the District Sessions Court on her car and had made a fake identity card.

Nathana police station Assistant Sub Inspector Jasvir Singh said they got a tip-off that Jasvir Kaur was operating a gang with her husband Kulvir Singh, Pargat Singh and one other person. The suspects duped people with a promise of providing government jobs.

The Assistant Sub Inspector said they were being interrogated and in the preliminary probe, it had come to the fore that the woman had duped more than 12 people of lakhs of rupees.

A case has been registered under various sections against Jasvir Kaur, Kulvir Singh, Pargat Singh and an unidentified person at the Nathana police station. The accused would be produced in the court for further questioning, the ASI said.
