Fatehgarh Sahib, October 2
The Agriculture Department has marked an inquiry into the supply of fake seeds, fertilisers and pesticides to cotton growers, which resulted in the loss of crop in Malwa. The officials have been directed to submit a report within three days and strict legal action will be initiated against the culprits. The affected farmers will be compensated at the earliest. This was stated by Kaka Randeep Singh Nabha, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, while interacting with the media after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib today.
He was accompanied by Industries Minister Gurkirat Singh Kotli, MP Dr Amar Singh, MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra, MLA Gurpreet Singh GP and MLA Lakhveer Singh Lakha. Nabha said new technology was being introduced to increase the production of cotton and protect the crop from diseases, which would prove to be a revolutionary step in the field.

Kotli demanded an industrial package from the Union Government to attract big houses in the state.
