Pathankot, February 9

The AAP, which is contesting the MC polls in Pathankot and Batala, came out strongly against Gurdaspur MP Sunny Deol saying that he had not only betrayed the farming community but also turned out to be ‘disloyal’ to Parliament by attending it for just three days so far.

State AAP in charge Raghav Chadha, who canvassed for his colleagues in Pathankot on Tuesday, said the people of Gurdaspur had chosen Deol as their MP with high hopes but “he had the temerity to disown the voters who elected him in the first place”.

Chadha said the MP’s record in Parliament could be checked by anybody. “He was present for just three days. Moreover, he has not spoken on any issue pertaining to his constituency to date. The MP rarely visits the constituency and has left it to his personal assistant to sort out things. Did the people vote for him or his PA?” he questioned.

Talking about farmers, he said “Nearly 160 farmers have died during the agitation following severe cold but the MP didn’t utter a single word for them and if at all he did “he only hurled insults at them and praised Modi”.
