New Delhi, February 3

The Delhi Police have announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for information that can lead to the arrest of actors-activist Deep Sidhu and three others in connection with the Republic Day violence in Delhi.

Cash reward of Rs 50,000 was also announced for Buta Singh, Sukhdev Singh and two others.

Thousands of protesting farmers had clashed with the police during the tractor parade called by farmer unions on January 26 to highlight their demand for repeal of the Centre’s three farm laws.

Many of the protesters, driving tractors, reached the Red Fort and entered the monument. Some protesters even hoisted religious flags on its domes and a flagstaff at the ramparts, where the national flag is unfurled by the prime minister on Independence Day.

Sidhu had on January 31 claimed that he feels “abandoned” after the events of January 26.

Last seen on January 29—days after he was chased away from a protest site by a group of angry protesters after being accused of leading a riotous mob to the Red Fort on January 26—Sidhu held a Facebook Live on Sunday, a brown shawl draped on his shoulder with a silver sheet forming the background for his video.

He claimed he felt “abandoned by everyone”, including Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Sunny Deol, for whom he campaigned in the 2019 General Election and who has since disassociated himself from Sidhu.
