Operation Eagle: Mohali Cops check vehicles, issue challans to violators

The police scanned suspicious vehicles and challaned traffic offenders to maintain law and order situation in the district. Vehicles were checked for suspicious objects at the Chandigarh-Mohali border today.

Cops checked baggage of passengers travelling in the public transport from 11am to 4pm. Heavy police force was in action at various places of the district to carry out the statewide campaign under Operation Eagle. In Dera Bassi subdivision, five vehicles were impounded and 29 challans were issued for overspeeding. Forty-four challans were issued under the Motor Vehicle Act and rule violations. Cops said as many as 215 vehicles were checked. The police also seized 1-kg opium during the search operation.

ADGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla said, “We are fully capable to provide security to the residents. Mohali has enough police personnel to maintain law and order situation.”
